Choosing the Right Projector
With technology advancing at such a rapid rate, it’s easy for people to feel overwhelmed when it comes to buying a projector. We want to make the task easier for you by highlighting key features and pointing out differences between the two main types of projectors: stationary and portable.
Stationary projectors are designed to be simple and cost-effective, while offering you the functionality you need to best fit your environment. Perfect for almost any classroom or office, these projectors provide a high screen resolution and a brighter format for your ideas. Depending on your budget, stationary projectors also come with several other features such as remote mousing, a document camera, extra computer ports, and a laser pointing device.
If you make frequent presentations while on the road, you should probably look for a portable scanner. Specially designed for mobile business users, portable projector are usually compact in size which makes them easy to carry. The lightest models on the market are now tipping the scales just below three pounds. And just because these portable scanners are small, it doesn’t mean they’re not going to match the larger models for image quality, brightness, and extra features.
You should also focus on resolution and brightness when purchasing a projector. Higher resolutions give sharper and clearer images. However, in order to get the best output possible, you need to be sure that the resolution of your projector matches that of your computer. Similarly, the brightness of your projector should be based on the activities you will be using it for. For example, if the projector will be used in a large boardroom or auditorium with many people, the images have to be larger and brighter (output of at least 3,000 lumens). Generally, the more you spend on a projector the brighter it will be.
Additional Features
Zoom Lens: With a zoom lens, you no longer need to move the projector to get the perfect image display.
Audio/Video Connection: The way in which you will connect the projector to your system should also be looked at. Some projectors have audio and video output to connect directly to your home entertainment system.
Multiple Ports: Make sure your projector has multiple ports or multiple input jacks. This is useful in situations which demand that more than one computing device be connected to the projector.
Warranty: Some manufacturers offer a “Dead on Arrival Projector Warrant.” This implies that if the product arrives in non-working condition, the manufacturer will swiftly replace it with a working model.

1) Use for xbox and TV? If you have a video output (yellow RCA jack) you could connect it.
2) Work for a long time? Difficult to say, the standard halogen bulb may last a long or short time, but should be cheap to replace (~$5). The electronics are an unknown.
3) Quality picture? Resolution is 480x240. Compare that to a DVD (720x480) or SDTV (480i) and you can see the resolution (detail) is quite low. Furthernore, brightness is low and the lens will be poor, so at best you will get a mediocre image in a dark room. In a bright room the picture will be washed out.
In general, low resolution images (480 or 600 lines ... and this is 240 lines) are adequate on a screen up to about 80"-90". I would think this projector would give an acceptable (not good, but usable) image in a dim/dark room on a ~50-60" screen.
Whether it's worth the money is questionable. But to put it in perspective a reasonable quality projector will cost you 3-5X as much and require a new bulb every 2-3000 hrs of use (~$300).
